Michael
L. Saile, Jr., Esq.
Michael L. Saile, Jr., Esq. grew up in lower Bucks
County, Pennsylvania and graduated from Council Rock
High School. While in high school, Mr. Saile played
baseball and was a varsity member of Council Rock’s
wrestling team in his junior and senior years. Also
during high school, Mr. Saile attained the rank of Eagle
Scout, the highest rank in Scouting, a designation
attained by less than 1% of all Scouts.
Mr. Saile then attended the University of Delaware where
he attained a bachelor’s degree in Accounting. While in
college Mr. Saile was a member of the social fraternity
of Pi Kappa Alpha. After college, Mr. Saile immediately
began law school at Widener University School of Law,
where he was frequently named to the Dean’s List and was
an active member on the Law School’s trial team. Mr.
Saile graduated from law school with honors and received
several Certificates of Achievement for obtaining the
highest grade in the class. During law school Mr. Saile
clerked for a law firm in Wilmington, Delaware.
After law school, Mr. Saile successfully passed both the
Pennsylvania and New Jersey bar examinations and began
practicing personal injury law for a law office in
Vineland, New Jersey. While working in New Jersey, Mr.
Saile personally handled over 100 personal injury cases
(at a time) and numerous municipal court matters,
including driving under the influence cases. Mr. Saile
participated in several jury trials and appealed a case
to the NJ Supreme Court, which was eventually decided in
his client’s favor. This published case improved NJ law
for tens of thousands of people injured in New Jersey
car accidents.
After gaining significant experience, Mike merged
practices with his father, Michael, Sr. (although he
doesn’t enjoy being called “Senior”) in 2004 and
together they formed Saile & Saile LLP. While at Saile
& Saile LLP, Mike made some changes to the way he was
previously practicing law. Mike wanted to improve
customer service at his new firm. At his prior firm,
Mike was assigned so many cases that he was not able to
form a relationship with his clients or give them the
attention and service that they deserved.
At Saile & Saile LLP, Mike initiated case acceptance
guidelines. As a result, Mr. Saile only takes on a
small number of cases at a time and only works for
clients that want to team with us to get the best
possible result. Mike does not overextend himself in
order to increase his income. Rather, he believes that
attention to case details, customer service,
communication and a strong relationship with his clients
benefit his clients and Saile & Saile LLP in the long
term.
In addition, Mr. Saile believes that the standard
contingent fee agreement is not fair to personal injury
victims. Contingent fee agreements are agreements
whereby the lawyer does not get paid unless there is a
case recovery. You hear about them on TV all the time.
Contingent fees are based on a percentage of the
recovery. Contingent legal fees allow innocent accident
victims, with little or no funds, the ability to obtain
quality legal representation.
In New Jersey, contingent fees are set by law and cannot
be changed. In Pennsylvania, no law limits the
percentage that a personal injury lawyer can charge his
or her clients. In Pennsylvania, an injury lawyer
typically charges anywhere from 1/3 up to 1/2 of the
case recovery. Mr. Saile’s problem with the standard
contingent fee agreement is that the lawyer gets a
windfall if the case settles early. This is because the
earlier a personal injury case settles, the less work a
lawyer had to perform on the case. This is not fair to
clients. Mr. Saile developed the “Saile & Saile LLP
Client First Fee Agreement” whereby, if his client’s
personal injury case settles early, his client gets a
discounted legal fee. This way the lawyer gets paid for
the work he or she actually does on the case. This is
fair!
Besides his busy practice of law, Mike enjoys spending
time with his family, making homemade wine (…ask him for
a bottle), exercising, golfing, fishing, and winter
sports. Mike enjoys both the New Jersey and Delaware
beaches during the summer months.
Mike has been recently named as a “Rising Star-Super
Lawyer” by Thompson Legal. This means that his
colleagues and peers have recognized him as one of the
top up-and-coming attorneys (under 40 years of age) in
Pennsylvania. This designation is only given to 2.5% of
attorneys in Pennsylvania.
Mike is constantly keeping up on Pennsylvania and New
Jersey personal injury law.
Mr. Saile is the author of the
PA–NJ Car Accident Lawyer Blog. In addition,
Mr. Saile recently published a consumer oriented book
titled “How
to Maximize Your Pennsylvania Car Accident Case before
an Insurance Company Takes Advantage of You.”
This guidebook answers many common questions and
concerns of injured car accident victims.

Mary
Jo Brown, Legal Assistant
Legal assistant Mary Jo Brown has been a member of the
Saile & Saile LLP staff since March 2006. She works
closely with Michael, Jr. and his personal injury
clients, taking great pride in her daily effort to
provide superior service. Mary Jo spends her days at the
law firm following up and corresponding with clients,
their medical providers, and all respective insurance
companies involved in the injury claim process. For
those cases that have moved on to the litigation stage,
Mary Jo monitors the timely flow of discovery
documentation, keeps files organized and up-to-date,
schedules depositions, and assists where needed in
preparation for trials and mediation/arbitration
hearings. Beyond legal administrative work, Mary Jo
helps Mike, Jr. compose the firm’s bi-monthly newsletter
and works with Saile & Saile LLP’s marketing efforts,
including their websites.
Mary Jo attended Sweet Briar College, outside of
Lynchburg, Virginia, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts
degree in 1986 in American Studies, with a concentration
in literature and history.
After college Mary Jo moved to Boston, MA for three
years and then to Lebanon, NH for three years to get a
taste of New England life. During that time she worked
in the staffing industry. Missing the New Jersey shore,
she moved back in 1993 and worked in the Regulatory
Affairs department at Novo Nordisk in Princeton, NJ,
where she met her husband.
As a result of her husband’s opportunity to advance his
career, she moved to south Florida for a couple of
years. During their time in Florida, Mary Jo provided
administrative support to a team of independent
insurance adjusters and investigators on a part-time
basis and was very active as a volunteer for the
Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, Women in Distress (a
shelter for battered women), and the Humane Society of
Broward County.
Another transfer awaited the couple in 1998 – a 3-year
assignment in Copenhagen, Denmark. While she was not
permitted to work in Denmark, Mary Jo thoroughly enjoyed
the entire experience; she traveled extensively, and
learned a lot about the culture, the language, and the
art of making friends in a foreign country. Mary Jo
devotes much of her free time to participating in
regional alumnae events for her college, volunteering at
Old St. Joseph’s church in Philadelphia, attending
cultural events with her husband, traveling, and
spending time with friends and family.
