Teen struck in pedestrian vs. car accident in Richboro, PA

A 14-year old boy was stuck by a pickup truck at about 5:25 p.m. on Friday, March 20, 2009, while riding his bicycle in the area of Temperance Lane at Blue Fox Lane in Northampton Township, Pennsylvania. The boy, whose name has not yet been released, was assisted by Tri-Hampton Rescue Squad and taken to St. Mary Medical Center in Middletown. He was reported to be in the ICU in critical condition the following morning.

As for the driver of the pickup truck, he is known to be a 48-year old man who resides in Richboro, PA. Northampton Township police report that the driver’s vehicle was damaged in the Bucks County car accident and not drivable. Police also say that a relative of the driver drove to the scene to help the driver, but that the driver got into his relative’s car and fled, leaving the relative who’d come to help him stranded. The 48-year old suspect was found about ½ hour later at another family member’s home. The man was taken by police to St. Mary Medical Center where he was tested for possibly driving under the influence (DUI).

Northampton Township police state that the investigation into this Richboro PA car accident continues.
