New Jersey residents may soon be able to sue for their pet’s pain and suffering along with the value of their animal
May 26th, 2007 | By Michael L. Saile, Jr., Esq. | Category: Blogs, New Jersey Injury InformationThere has been much controversy lately about the poisoned cat and dog food that has killed thousands of pets across the country. New Jersey is moving towards becoming the next state to allow pet owners to sue the makers of poisoned pet food for pain and suffering if their pets fall ill after ingesting or coming in contact with the tainted food.
A new Bill introduced in the NJ legislature would allow owners of dead or injured pets to recover financial losses, including, but not limited to the monetary value of the animal, replacement value of the animal, veterinary treatment incurred in treating the animal, burial expenses, reimbursement of animal training expenses, and loss of companionship.
We at Saile & Saile LLP just had an inquiry last week about a similar issue.
