American Greetings Corp. Recalls Confetti Bursts Due to Violation of Lead Paint Standard. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with American Greetings Corp., today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed.

Name of Product: DesignWare Confetti Bursts.

Units: About 60,000.

Distributor: American Greetings Corp., of Cleveland, Ohio.

Hazard: The surface paint on the individual bags of confetti contains excessive levels of lead, violating the federal lead paint standard.

Incidents/Injuries: None reported.

Description: The recalled products contain confetti in plastic bags. When the bags are inflated, consumers squeeze the bag and confetti bursts out. Each package contains six confetti bursts. 

Sold at: Discount, toy, drug, grocery, party, and specialty/gift stores nationwide from December 2003 through September 2007 for about $3.

  1. Do you belive the instrument and method used in the US to test these things for lead were validated?

    Or do you belive the reliability of the instruments and methods were litigated to determine reliability?
