A Good Argument Against Tort Reform…

Mar 19th, 2007 | By Michael L. Saile, Jr., Esq. | Category: Blogs, New Jersey Injury Information, Pennsylvania Injury Information

There are many people who still believe that suing someone that has injured you is not acceptable.  Many people believe that lawsuits are ruining our country.  There are many misconceptions regarding the effect and the truth about lawsuits.   Many of my clients do not become aware of these issues until they have been involved with a car accident.

Recently, I came across an informative publication by the Wisconsin Academy of Trial Lawyers.   This article addresses many misconceptions that the public has come to believe as a result of false automobile insurance company advertising and political agendas.

The article (which I have attached below) discusses common misconceptions about our civil justice system and actually gives proof that these ideas are false.  This article examines the veracity following myths:

·        Litigation Explosion

·        Frivolous Lawsuits

·        Medical Malpractice and Health Care Costs

·        Medical Malpractice, Doctors, and Medical Insurance Premiums

·        Caps on Damages

·        Tort Tax

·        Lawsuits and Jobs

I invite your “good spirited” debate (if any) regarding these issues.
